Sleepless nights...

Thought I would post a few pics of the latest that went into Up North!  Check out Carol and Caroline...the Caroling nuns!  Along with them is Ms. Candy Kane... selling candy canes to get through her holidays!  The gingerboys are a little less to be desired...but so ugly that I put them in, anyways!  ha!  I don't like how they turned out but they are definitely prim!  Made up some pins for the Secret Santa lovers and teacher gifts and Love the Mousie and his letter to Santa!  He found some nasty, dirty paper to write down his wynter wishes....all he wants for Christmas is some cheese for his brothers and sisters!  This is one of Becky Erickson's awesome designs!

May I Have Your Order Please!?

Got the phone call today that my 'goods' are selling fast!  Those cute snoman heads are rolling out the door at Up North....  I'm dying to get busy with some fun new ideas I have...but I've been busy with orders for people for Christmas!  This is a good thing but I'm not much into repetition and it's killing me to be disciplined!  ha!  Thought I would capture a shot of two orders I just finished this evening!!  Stay tuned for more fun goodies I will be running to Deer River on Tuesday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Stopped over to Deer River yesterday at Up North General Store and brought in some goods!  I snapped a few pictures of Rinda's shop to share with you all... she has it looking so great and cozy!!  I'll be dropping off more items, early Friday morning for BLACK Friday!  (whoever thought of that term?!)  Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!  The kids and I are having a blast being lazy this morning....getting ready for the big 'pig out'!

Late night snack

I have spent the entire day stitching and snuggling with the kiddos!  Kody and I had a date night on Friday and spent the weekend enjoying the kids!  Headed over to Duluth on Saturday to my fav shoppe..now Homestead Gatherings with good bud, Connie.  We hit the Rocking Horse in Superior, a thrift shop and Michaels!  Tonight...after everyone is tucked in their bed...the munchies have attacked.... this once, fine and full jar of Orange Jalapeno jelly was designed for crackers and cream cheese...never made it to see a cracker...but was fully consumed by a single spoon...until it was empty.  Now the guilt has set in.  Dawn's wonderful jellies can now be found at Rinda's shoppe in Deer River, too!!!  Up North General Store!

A Chip off the Block

I have been going around and snapping pictures of the kid's artwork from the past season, before I take them down for their scrapbooks...and thought I had to show case the cute little primitive pumpkin head man my sweet Keira (who is 4)...had made in preschool!  This is so precious and I needed a picture before the little gourd head rots on me!  Thought you all would enjoy it too!

Surfin' the blogs

I found this on someone's blog....and she gave permission to grab it... but I thought it was fun!!  I love giving handmade gifts for Christmas or birthdays....mostly if you know they would like it.... not to just get rid of something! ha!  Kiddos are off of school tomorrow and Friday and I'm so excited to hang with them and get some more goods done up and finish up my orders!  Tomorrow is the official day my candles go into Up North General Store, in Deer River!  So excited to see how they work for them!

Busy busy!

Saturday was fun and productive, again!  Thought I would show a few things that I had made in the previous week!  Made a super cute Santa that sold out right away and I'm kicking myself that I didn't take some pics of the little guys!  But that just means I will have to make more!  Busy with five orders on the Having a Child stitchery by Lynn at Country by the Lake's pattern!  You'll have to check them out... with Paperbag Primitives!

Into the wind...

So, I said I was going to post pictures of everything I did...who was I kidding?  I was so busy and stressed out...but we did it!  We had a great show and I made more in that one half day, then I do on my two week pay check!!  So we are back at the Sawmill Inn for another show...this next Saturday, again.  Wanted to quick post a few photos of the goods we had for sale!  This is just a little and I will try to post more after this weekend!

Sooooo Happy For Soy!

I love making soy candles.... the house smells so great when I'm hard at it....it lingers for a few days!!!  The part I really procrastinate is... putting the labels on...the ties and if I forgot to label them as they are curing....trying to figure out what scent I had going on there!  That would be the case today.  They say you are supposed to smell a bowl of coffee beans in between smelling each fragrance!  Didn't help me today!  I have two candles...I cannot for the life of me.... figure out what the scent is!  Crazy!!  I actually took the time today and labeled 25 candles. Done!  Remember that you can always buy these at Bixby's Cafe...here in Grand Rapids!  Scents I worked on today:  Spiced Apples,  Mistletoe, Vanilla Butter Cream, Pine Boughs, Pumpkin Spice,  Lilac (only for those that wish spring/summer were here- year round!), Birch & Berries, Fireside, Eucalyptus, Harvest Thyme and Apple Strudel!  Okay... I'm going now... I'm hungry!

The End of an Era

I was playing on Ebay tonight and decided to jump over to BooKoo.  I'm a 'good deal' junkie!  I stumbled over an ad for someone selling her primitive doll collection.  It literally made me heartsick!!  This is my dear friend's primitive doll inventory.  These little beauties were in my shop, a couple years ago and it was fun to see some of their sweet faces and remember how excited I would get every time she dropped off more inventory for me to add!  She is a phenomenal doll maker... although...she is phenomenal at everything she does...but wanted to quick post a picture of the cute faces that these little keepsakes have!  I'm going to miss them and I wish I could afford to buy them from her!

Swamped...

This is a little bit of the reason I had caved and got out of crafting, etc.... I had to put an end to undone, household chores.... and this is what is screaming my name, this evening... at 12:30 a.m.  We're talking four loads of clean laundry...so that's good but I'm looking at about 1 a.m. till this is done and put away!

On a brighter note.... the dishes are done!

What Am I Doing???!

This is the third night in a row that I will be up past 2 a.m. working on things to sell for the Deer Hunting Opener at the Sawmill Inn!  Am I crazy and who gets the blame for talking me into this??  I now have a goal to complete 10 of an item per day....watch me meet my goals!  Monday night...I exceeded them and made another 22 candles!

Calling All Projects....

Thought I would show a couple little side projects I have worked on in the last month or so... First one is a table that my friend, Brook had bought at our garage sale for the Reynosa, Mexico Missions Trip.  Someone donated it for us and we put $40 on it!  Solid Oak...but black is so much prettier at this time!  ;)  So I stripped it (three times  :/  )  and here was the final outcome!  I had to throw two of my own chairs in there too give it the total look!   Loved it!

Next up was another project that I had promised Brook's - at the time, finace...Joel.  It is a book shelf that Kevin made for him because we needed certain dimensions for his then, apartment and we were not successful in finding anything to fit!  So.... I painted the word  Continue... on it in memory of his best friend, Nathan Junker.

And last but not least...one for me!!!  I rarely ever take the time to finish something for me...ha!  So....this was a gun cabinet that we tore the racks out and put shelves in it....I sanded it down and stripped it and painted it a lighter color to match my room and now it is my "sweater hutch"!  Ever heard of that?!  I love it!

The Junk Market Group

My friend, Kathy Fauth  ( www.checkeredpastblog.com
The Junkies!
had planned this trip back in June of 2006!  What a great trip!  We headed to Minneapolis on bus and hit the Junk Market and another spot... my memory is lost... but we met Joan from the Decorating Cents show from HGTV!!!!  * I'm not even sure if that show is still on. *   Good Times!

The Old Days...

I thought it would be kind of fun to post the old blog link.  I cannot pick it back up because I cannot figure out the password and the old email was off of my website...which is dismantled!  But it's fun to see my old favorites and primitive friends from a few years ago!!  Enjoy!   www.prairieriverprimitives.blogspot.com
